This series of posts chronicles the arrival of Kid #3 and the journey surrounding his arrival into this world at 31 weeks.

Hello friends and family,

Yesterday morning at her doctors appointment Geniene showed signs of pre-eclampsia and was sent to the hospital for more conclusive testing. This morning she was given one of two doses of steroids to help with baby C’s development in the event that she will deliver him early.

We will not have a solid idea of what to expect until the testing for pre-eclampsia is completed this afternoon (hopefully by 5 pm).

She has various and sundry symptoms and while all symptoms obviously point to pregnancy, they are not all normal for her and lead us to believe that something a bit more serious is happening.

The doctors have noticed that there is something not quite right and are working to figure out what it is.

At this point the earliest Geniene will be released from the hospital is tomorrow (Thursday) evening or Friday morning.

Baby C has been moving around in utero quite nicely but to be certain that all is ok with him, they are scheduling an ultrasound for tomorrow afternoon.

In the event that Geniene does have pre-eclampsia, we could see the arrival of baby C as early as this week. If she does not have it, they will send her home on “light-duty” meaning that we will need lots of help around the house.

Either way, we are not exactly ready for the arrival of Kid #3. Our house is under construction, the baby clothes are all in storage and mentally, we’re still thinking we have 2 months till “go” time.

While pre-term hospital visits are not unusual for Geniene during pregnancy, the very real possibility of pre-eclampsia is new.

Prayers are very much appreciated.

Thanks,
