The other day I shared this video through twitter.

Somebody promptly responded by saying that The Guardian was “a left wing rag”.

Stop there

I don’t want to fight.  Nope, not even a little bit.  I want to host a positive discussion.

I found the video to be interesting, that’s why I shared it.

If you are anything like me you are having a hard time wrapping your mind around this whole Occupy Wall Street ordeal.  What is the correct response?  How do we fix the system?

Thoughts

First and foremost I want to share a couple of thoughts.

  1. I think the system is broken.  Financial markets are on the verge of collapse.  For proof click here or here.
  2. Something needs to be done.
  3. I feel like the people who are protesting are being used as pawns.
  4. The government taking money from the 1% will not make life better for the 99%.  It’ll just give the government more money to waste.
  5. Ethically the world is a wasteland.  It’s not just the politicians and the business people, it’s everyone.

With that said

I think we need to start discussing what’s going on and take out the political charge.  The problems facing our country and our world will not be solved by pointing the finger at the people we disagree with.  While I’m not sure we haven’t passed the point of no-return, nothing good will happen if we don’t start taking some responsiblity.

Let’s start actually have a dialogue and stop being so partisan.  Whether you are part of the Tea Party or OWS let’s try to find where we agree and move forward together.
